This ‘Have Your Say’ should put to rest any worries anybody might have that the BBC site is fair, unbiased, and free from attack.
The most recommended opinions on whether to close Guantanamo are from people saying that it’s a terrible mistake, Obama is misguided, and Europeans are fools. And these have received the most recommendations, which is surely the only measure of “quality” that the site has to offer users looking for representative views.
Now I can’t claim to be any sort of expert on BBC demographics, but I get the feeling that the normal audience for the BBC News website and the BBC in general is in fact overwhelmingly in favour of the closure of Guantanamo, and sees this as a positive step.
Leaves you rather wondering what gives.. But apparently it really is that easy to have a hundred mates off some Far Right message board each sign up and recommend your idiotic views. It goes the other way sometimes too, where Far Left activists manage to promote ridiculous opinions just by having fifty more supporters than the other side.
This is how democracy fails when you have painfully low voter turnout – makes the numbers so much more volatile, and the outcome so much less useful.
